Thailand’s government said on Wednesday that it had discovered six new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in state quarantine.

The new patients are returnees from Egypt (4), US (1) and Germany (1).

The new discoveries bring the total number of cases up to 3,261 cases.

There are no new fatalities leaving the death toll at 58.

There was no new recovery in the past 24 hours leaving the total number of discharged patients at 3,105.

Currently, 98 people remain in hospital.

Rayong and Bangkok Scandals

The government spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said more than 7,200 have voluntarily tested with state facilities following the two scandals with none infected so far.

It has been eleven days since July 10 when both cases were found locally.

Global situation

There are now more than 15 million confirmed coronavirus cases globally. Of that, more than 9.1 million people have recovered from the infection and more than 619,000 have died from the disease.

Around 4 million cases have been confirmed in the US alone, followed by 2.1 million in Brazil and 1.1 million in India.

There were 240,000 cases reported globally on Wednesday (67,000 in the US; 44,000 in Brazil; and 39,000 cases in India).
