Dear esteemed Facebook followers, as Spokesperson for the Covid-19 N…ational Response, i will attempt to provide responses to relevant comments and questions at convenient times. Rest assured, your comments, questions and suggestions are very complementary to the fight against Covid-19.
I commend all who have made comments on Facebook regarding the fight. I believe we all continue to keep in our thoughts and prayers, H.E Julius Maada Bio (who is in self-quarantine), those affected by the virus, their loved ones, as well as our frontline healthcare workers. I agree that politics should not define the fight against Covid-19. Corona virus is too dangerous to politicise. It is a common enemy. If it wipes our lives away, there will be no political parties. How do we feel when 2.6M of our kids under the free quality education programme are forced out of school? How do we feel that families are experiencing serious social and economic discomfort; businesses severely affected; places of worship closed; economic recovery efforts impeded. What should bind us now is far greater than what should divide us.
I have also read concerns about the community transmission triggers. When we study the stages of transmission, stage 3 is a crucial phase. At this stage, a lockdown is possible. Some do nationwide lockdowns, some do for targeted communities. Whatever it is, the experts will make a determination.
Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased (the 76 year old) who was taken to Connaught Hospital for pre-existing conditions, test run on him and his result posthumously proven positive. The cumulative total confirmed cases is 64, 10 recoveries, 1 death, 702 in quarantine, 1,236 discharged from quarantine. Our hearts go out to everyone.
Let us trust in God, but also donβt dispense with common sense guidelines…..washing of hands with soap, wearing face mask, maintaining social distance, etc.
