The newest victims were husband, son, daughter and niece of the 45-year-old medical worker who tested positive for the disease earlier this week.

The four victims were among the more than 20 people, including four legislators, who met with the medical worker during her visit to Pauk Khaung last Saturday,

U Tun Tun Oo, the minister of Immigration and Human Resource Department of Bago region, said the four legislators are quarantined for 14 days at home.

He said the four patients were moved to isolation center at Pyay General Hospital late Thursday, adding that all those people who met with the infected medical worker have been transferred to a quarantine centre.

U Tun Tun Oo added the families of the people who met with the medical workers have been placed under home quarantine.

“The office of general administration department, as well as the places which the medical worker and her family went have been closed and being disinfected.”

The latest cases brought to 20 the total number of people infected with the virus in the country. One patient died last Tuesday.
