25 deaths and 480 new cases confirmed

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that 25 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died.

Of the 25 deaths:

  • the median age was 82
  • the people included 11 females and 14 males
  • 16 of the 28 had an underlying condition

There have now been 287 COVID-19-related deaths in Ireland.

480 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland have been confirmed. There are now 7054 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

Including test results which have been sent to Germany for testing (which may include tests from older cases) the total figure of those who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland now stands at 8089.

Public health measures to be extended until May 5

The public health measures
will be extended for a further 3 weeks. The measures will now stay in place until Tuesday, May 5.

The extension of the measures was announced by the Taoiseach
Leo Varadkar and the Minister for Health, Simon Harris who both said that the measures are being extended because they are saving lives.

The Gardaí Síochana’s power to enforce COVID-19 restrictions
will also be extended until 5 May.

Leaving Cert to take place in July/August and Junior Cert to be replaced by class-based assessments

Joe McHugh, the Minister for Education, has confirmed that:

  • the Leaving Cert will take place the last week of July or early August with a final decision on dates to be made subject to the public health advice in June.
  • the Junior Cert will now be replaced by school-based exams and assessments which will take place early in the new school year
  • all schools are to remain closed until further notice

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that 28 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died.

Of the 28 deaths:

  • the median age was 81
  • the people included 15 females and 13 males
  • 19 of the 28 had an underlying condition

There have now been 263 COVID-19-related deaths in Ireland.

500 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland have been confirmed. There are now 6,574 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

  • 13 deaths located in the east, 8 in the north, 2 in the south and 2 in the west of the country
  • the people included 10 females and 15 males
  • the median age of today’s reported deaths is 80
  • 18 people were reported as having underlying health conditions

There have now been 235 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

365 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland have been confirmed. There are now 6,074 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that 36 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died:

  • 27 deaths located in the east, 6 in the north west, 3 in the south
  • the patients included 17 females and 19 males
  • 24 (66.6%) patients were reported as having underlying health conditions
  • the median age of today’s reported deaths is 81

There have now been 210 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. The median age of deaths in Ireland is 81. The mean age of deaths in Ireland is 79.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been informed of 345 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland, as at 1pm, Tuesday 7 April.

There are now 5,709 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

  • 11 deaths located in the east, 4 in the north west, 1 in the west of the country
  • the patients included 6 females and 10 males
  • 4 patients were reported as having underlying health conditions
  • the median age of today’s reported deaths is 78

There have now been 174 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. The median age of deaths in Ireland is 81.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HSPC) has been informed that 22 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died.

There have now been 120 deaths from COVID-19 in Ireland. The median age of COVID-19-related deaths in Ireland is 82.

A further 424 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Ireland. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 4273 in Ireland.

Minister signs regulations to help with prescriptions during COVID-19

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris, has made changes to ensure that patients will no longer have to bring paper scripts to pharmacists to get prescriptions or repeat prescriptions. Instead – these prescriptions will be emailed to the pharmacy from the prescribing doctor via the HSE’s Healthmail system.

As well as this, prescription lengths have been increased – so people with a prescription for 6 months will have the validity period extended to 9 months.

  • 9 deaths located in the east, 1 in the south, 3 in the west of the country
  • the patients included 4 females and 9 males
  • 10 patients were reported as having underlying health conditions

There have now been 98 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. The median age of deaths in Ireland is 82.

There have been 402 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 bringing the number of cases to 3,849 in total.
