ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1.          Today, Thursday, 06 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 11 November 2021, by the will of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala and with a heavy heart, the Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that two COVID-19 confirmed cases have returned to the grace and mercy of Allah.

 

2.          The first case was a 59-year-old man who suffered from several health problems and is not categorised as death due to COVID-19. Whereas the second case was a 61-year-old woman and the cause of this case’s death is still under investigation.

 

3.          In this opportunity, myself representing the Ministry of Health as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam, would like to express our deepest condolences to the cases’ families and pray the cases’ souls will receive blessings and are placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah..

4.          A total of ninety-six (96) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,058.

  1. There are 59 additional new cases to 12 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, four new clusters have been detected that involved 23 cases. One of the new cluster namely WSS Kiulap construction dormitory Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
  3. As currently shown on the screen, five clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 171 clusters.

  4. Meanwhile, there are 3 import cases reported today where two of the cases arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Kuala Lumpur on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 874 on 05/11/2021, and one case arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Kuala Lumpur on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 874 on 27/10/2021.
  5. Meanwhile, 11 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

5.          One hundred and nineteen (119) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,233 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 728 cases.

 

6.          Among the cases being treated at this time, six cases (06) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, three (3) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

 

7.          In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,781 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 549,063 tests.

 

8.          On 10 November 2021, a total of 6,729 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This total includes 4,646 adolescents of aged 12-17 years. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 371,184 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 86.3% from the total population. Meanwhile, 290,032 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 67.4% from the total population.

 

9.          For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 18 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 13 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.

 

10.      In this opportunity, the Ministry of Heath would like to remind the public to continue to fulfil their responsibilities in assisting the Government to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although we will be entering the transition phase in the near future, the public is advised to continue to stay at home, go out only if it is necessary, wear a face mask and practice personal hygiene. Let us continue to remind one another so that Brunei Darussalam will be evaded from all unwanted effects. Aamiin…Aamiin Ya Rabbal Alamin.  Thank you.
