  • Today, two new clusters have been detected that brings the total number of active clusters to 45 clusters. These new clusters are Cluster 2155 that contains 9 cases and Cluster 2230 that contains 4 cases.
  • There are 43 additional new cases to 9 of the existing active clusters. The cases in these active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases.
  • Meanwhile, 28 cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
  • Contact tracing for all these new cases is currently undergoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 test.

2.           Fifty-one (51) cases have recovered today bringing the total of recovered cases to 664 cases. This means, a total of 1,788 active cases have been recorded in Brunei Darussalam.

3.           Among the active cases, six cases are in critical condition, where five cases require assistance of artificial ventilation. One case that was reported yesterday who required the help of an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO) has gradually recovered and no longer needs assistance from the ECMO machine. However, one of the mothers who had given birth at the National Isolation Centre now needs assistance of artificial ventilation and additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, twenty-nine (29) cases that were categorised in Category 4 are now admitted at the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring.

4.           In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,035 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 223,861 tests.

5.           At this time, about 81% of positive cases in Categories 1 and 2 are placed at isolation centres provided by the Government. They will be allowed to return home and continue their quarantine at home once they have been confirmed recovered. In this regard, cooperation from patient’s family is requested to send a change of clothes to the isolation centre where the patient is being admitted 2-3 days before the patient is allowed to return home. This will be for the use of the patient when they leave the isolation centre.

6.           At this opportunity, let us all pray that Allah Subhanahu Wa’Taala forgive all our sins and ease all our affairs especially to control the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. O Allah please lift the COVID-19 disease from this earth, verily only to you we ask for help and only to you we seek refuge. Amiin Amiin Ya Rabbal Alamin.
