ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

16 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 21 November 2021

 

1.            Today, Sunday, 16 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 21 November 2021, a total of seventy-seven (77) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,591.

  1. There are 28 additional new cases to 8 of the existing active clusters who was previously a close contact with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, five new clusters have been detected that involved 28 cases. These new clusters are accommodation clusters, which one of the clusters namely Anirus Enterprise staff house Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
  3. As currently shown on the screen, six clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 153 clusters.

     (Screen: LDY Engineering Sdn Bhd Cluster, Destiny Jaya Sdn Bhd Cluster, Hasmit Shield Roofing Manufacture Sdn Bhd Cluster, 7266 Cluster, 9484 Cluster and 10850 Cluster). 

  4. Meanwhile, 21 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

2.           Seventy-six (76) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,062 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 431 cases.

 

3.           Among the cases being treated at this time, five cases (05) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. Meanwhile, there is no other case that is categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and close monitoring.

 

4.           In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,744 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 586,175 tests.

 

5.           On 20 November 2021, a total of 7,807 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 399,834 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 93.0% from the total population. Meanwhile, 327,073 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 76.1% from the total population.

 

6.           In addition, commencing tomorrow, Monday, 22 November 2021, the operation hours for the Indoor Stadium Vaccination Centre is changed to 8:00 am until 5:00 pm every Monday to Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the operation hours every Friday is from 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm. The vaccination services at the centre will be opened to the public for first and second doses, either via BruHealth booking or via walk-in.

 

7.           For ‘Operasi Peralihan’ that was carried out recently from 10 pm until 4 am, a total of 5 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 4 of it are violations of the directive to stay at home.

 

8.           Let us together unite in responding to the calls and recommendations of the Government to recover the country from the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
