ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Saturday, 01 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 06 November 2021, a total of sixty-nine (69) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,742.
- There are 35 additional new cases to 12 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, five new clusters have been detected that involved 18 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which three of the clusters namely Al Malabar Restaurant Sdn Bhd Cluster, Sawan staff house Cluster and Jalan Tanjung Nangka Kecil Construction Cluster are housing clusters that accommodates the company’s employees.
- Four clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are 3598 Cluster, 4446 Cluster, 8146 Cluster and 8261 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 184 clusters.
- In addition, there is 1 import case recorded today that arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Poland via Japan and Singapore on board Singapore Airlines SQ 146 on 24/10/2021.
- Meanwhile, 15 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. One hundred and sixty-nine (169) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 12,445 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,203 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, six cases (06) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, seven (7) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 2,716 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 528,665 tests.
5. On 05 November 2021, a total of 568 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 354,729 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 82.5% from the total population. Meanwhile, 278,735 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 64.8% from the total population.
6. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 5 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 4 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
7. Let us together respond to the recommendations of the Government and abide by all the advices and directives issued in controlling the spread of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The public is reminded to not leave the house unnecessarily, not to attend any mass gatherings or unauthorised events, and to avoid places that are crowded or full of people. In addition, continue to practice other preventative measures such as wearing a face mask, maintaining personal hygiene as well as correct cough and sneeze etiquette.
