ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

07 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 12 November 2021

 

1.          Today, Friday, 07 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 12 November 2021, a total of sixty-three (63) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,121.

  1. There are 32 additional new cases to 12 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, two new clusters have been detected that involved 10 cases. Both the new clusters namely; Nur Naziba Construction staff house and M.Rahman construction staff house Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees.
  3. As currently shown on the screen, four clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 169 clusters.
     

    (Screen: Fazrul Sdn Bhd Cluster, LNS Sdn Bhd Cluster, 7110 Cluster and 7215 Cluster). 

  4. Meanwhile, 21 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

2.          Eighty-nine (89) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,322 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 702 cases.

 

3.          Among the cases being treated at this time, five cases (05) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, three (3) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

 

4.          In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,896 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 552,959 tests.

 

5.          On 11 November 2021, a total of 7,035 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This total includes 4,508 adolescents of aged 12-17 years. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 376,127 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 87.5% from the total population. Meanwhile, 292,124 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 67.9% from the total population.

 

6.          In this regard, the Ministry of Health would like to remind the public especially those who have not obtained the COVID-19 vaccination and hoping to obtain it before the Transition Phase commences on 19 November 2021, they can acquire it at any vaccination centres via walk-in basis according to the pre-arranged schedules. Employers are also reminded to ensure each of their employees has obtained a complete vaccination before the Transition Phase commences.

 

7.          For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 13 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 11 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.

 

8.          Let us pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala that all the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam be blessed and protected. Let us also be grateful to the health that has been given and make the most of if, as well as to respond to the directives by the Government during this COVID-19 pandemic.
