MEDIA STATEMENT
ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Monday, 24 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 29 November 2021, a total of twenty-two (22) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 15,058.
- There are 6 additional new cases to 3 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, two new clusters have been detected that involved 8 cases. These new clusters are private accommodation clusters.
- As currently shown on the screen, five clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 132 clusters.
(Screen: 12836 Cluster, 12893 Cluster, Megalift Sdn Bhd Cluster, Kilanas staff house Cluster and WYWY Lambak staff house Cluster).
- Meanwhile, 8 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. Thirty-nine (39) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,451 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 508 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, four cases (04) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation, with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, no other case is categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 1,842 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 614,805 tests.
5. On 28 November 2021, a total of 648 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 403,094 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 93.7% from the total population. Meanwhile, 344,914 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 80.2% from the total population. Meanwhile, among the population aged 60 years an above, a total of 44,002 individuals which is 101.6% have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine which exceeds the population aged 60 years and above and a total of 41,931 individuals which is 96.8% have completed the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
6. Furthermore, to provide a clearer picture of the location of the positive cases detected in the county, the Ministry of Health would like to share some of the results of the research that has been conducted. As currently shown on the screen, between 21 November 2021 until 27 November 2021, there is one mukim that has more than 80 positive cases namely Mukim Sengkurong (122 cases).
7. For ‘Operasi Peralihan’ that was carried out recently from 10 pm until 4 am, a total of 2 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where both were violations of the directive to stay at home.
