ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1.          Today, Wednesday, 27 Rabiulawal 1443 / 03 November 2021, a total of one hundred and twenty-five (125) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,446.

  1. There are 52 additional new cases to 6 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, seven new clusters have been detected that involved 31 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which four of the clusters namely; Ban 2A Construction Staffhouse Cluster, Ban 5 Construction Staffhouse Cluster, Jalan Pasir Berakas Staffhouse Cluster and Bhuiyan Construction Staffhouse Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees.
  3. Two clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are 6602 Cluster and 7481 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 176 clusters.
  4. Meanwhile, 42 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

2.          Two hundred (200) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 11,923 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,433 cases.

 

3.          Among the cases being treated at this time, six cases (06) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, fourteen (14) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

 

4.          In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,306 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 516,880 tests.

 

5.          On 02 November 2021, a total of 6,140 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 353,685 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 82.3% from the total population. Meanwhile, 266,192 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 61.9% from the total population.

 

6.          For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 6 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 4 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.

 

7.          Let us together remember and together carry out our respective responsibilities to recover Brunei Darussalam from the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a connected effort, as well as by continuing to pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, InshaAllah, Brunei Darussalam and all its citizens and residents will be safeguarded from all unwanted harms.
