ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Saturday, 23 Rabiulawal 1443 / 30 October 2021, by the will of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala and with a heavy heart, the Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that one COVID-19 confirmed case has returned to the grace and mercy of Allah.
2. The case was a 62-year-old woman who suffered from several other health problems and is not categorised as death due to the COVID-19 infection.
3. In this opportunity, myself representing the Ministry of Health as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam, would like to express our deepest condolences to the case’s family and pray the case’s soul will receive blessings and is placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah..

4. A total of one hundred and ten (110) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,065.
- There are 28 additional new cases to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, seven new clusters have been detected that involved 50 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which two of the clusters namely; WYWY Lambak Staffhouse Cluster and KSAKB Construction Staffhouse Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees.
- Seven clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are Pusat Tulen Lelaki, Al-Islah Cluster; 2632 Cluster; 3715 Custer; 5404 Cluster; 6041 Cluster; 6597 Cluster and 7068 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 176 clusters.
- In addition, there are 2 import cases have been recorded today, where both arrived in Brunei Darussalam from United Kingdom via Singapore on board Singapore Airline SQ146 on 24/10/2021 and on board Singapore Airline SQ148 on 25/10/2021 respectively.
- Meanwhile, 30 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
5. Two hundred and twenty-seven (227) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 11,091 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,886 cases.
6. Among the cases being treated at this time, seven cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, thirteen other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
7. In the past 24 hours, a total of 2,713 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 499,795 tests.
8. On 29 October 2021, a total of 739 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 351,715 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 81.8% from the total population. Meanwhile, 252,947 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 58.8% from the total population. Whereas among the elderly population aged 60 years and above, a total of 42,154 individuals which is 97.4% have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and a total of 38,204 individuals which is 88.2% have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
9. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 22 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 13 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
10. For the common good, we ask all to comply with all the recommendations and directives of the Government in our efforts to recover the country from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
