If you’re pregnant, you may discuss COVID-19 vaccines with your doctor, but it’s not required prior to vaccination. While studies have not yet been done, experts believe mRNA vaccines like COVID-19 vaccines are unlikely to pose a risk for people who are pregnant. CDC and FDA have safety monitoring systems in place to capture information about vaccination during pregnancy and will closely monitor reports.
Even after getting vaccinated, pregnant people should continue to follow guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19:
• Wear a mask.
• Stay at least six feet away from others.
• Avoid crowds.
• Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
