The coronavirus caseload in Bangladesh has reached 534,770 with the detection of 363 more cases over the previous 24 hours till Saturday.

Besides, 17 new fatalities were reported from the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, during the period to push the national death toll to 8,111.

Of the new deceased, 10 are men and seven is woman. Among the total dead, 6,143 are men while 1,968 are women.

Currently, there are 47,362 active cases in the country.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

As per the press release, 337 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 479,297.

The recovery rate also stands at 89.63 per cent.

During the period, 12,084 samples were tested in 204 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,639,497 samples have so far been tested in the country.

The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 3 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.69 per cent

Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.

On Friday, the country registered seven deaths and 454 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,075 samples with a positivity rate of 3.76 per cent.

Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases around the world have reached 102,629,743 as of Saturday morning.

Besides, the world has so far suffered 2,216,311 fatalities from the virus, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 26,083,919 patients, 25,978,578 are in mild condition while 109,016 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 74,329,513 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 26,512,193 and 447,459 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,733,487 and third highest fatalities of 154,176 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 222,775 and third highest cases of 9,119,477.
