Bangladesh has logged 438 fresh coronavirus infections over the previous 24 hours till Wednesday, pushing total cases to 536,545.
Besides, fatalities from the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, have reached 8,162 after the health authorities announced 13 more virus deaths during the period.
Of the new deceased, 11 are men and two are women. Among the total dead, 6,188 are men while 1,974 are women.
Currently, there are 47,077 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 578 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 481,306.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.70 per cent.
During the period, 14,985 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,693,634 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 2.92 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.53 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.
On Monday, the country registered 10 deaths and 443 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,475 samples with a positivity rate of 3.55 per cent.
Meanwhile, confirmed cases from coronavirus have reached 104,393,004 around the world as of Wednesday morning.
Besides, the world has so far suffered 2,262,795 deaths from the virus, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,876,287 patients, 25,774,570 are in mild condition while 107,177 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 76,253,922 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 27,027,347 and 457,856 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,778,206 and third highest fatalities of 154,635 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 226,383 and third highest cases of 9,286,256.
