Abu Dhabi: The UAE on Tuesday announced 283 new cases of COVID-19, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2359.

19 recoveries were also announced by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The Ministry added that the increase in number of cases could be attributed to intensified testing efforts of the government, in addition to the lack of commitment to preventive measures and health guidelines on the part of the patients.

The Ministry announced the death of an Asian man, adding to the total toll of 12 in the country as of April 7.

The authority also called upon residents and citizens to adhere to restrictions that are in place while following health guidelines and social distancing.
