Bangladesh reported a record number of 688 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours till Monday, taking the total cases in the country to 10,143.
This is the highest daily surge since the first cases were detected in the country on March 8. Earlier, highest 665 cases were reported in a 24-hour period on Sunday.
Besides, the death toll from coronavirus in the country has risen to 182 with five more deaths during the period.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure in the daily online health bulletin at the Management Information System (MIS) in the afternoon.
She also said 147 more people recovered from Covid-19 in the country during the period, taking the total of people making recovery to 1,209.
Prof Nasima said 6,260 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 87,694 samples have so far been tested in the country, she said.
On Sunday, Bangladesh reported two more deaths from coronavirus and highest 665 new cases.
Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus has reached 248,256 globally as of Monday morning.
It has so far infected 3,565,310 people around the world, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 2,163,057 patients, 2,113,016 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent.
Meanwhile, 50,041 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition and their percentage is only 2.
So far, 1,153,997 people have recovered from COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
The coronavirus is affecting 212 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
