Bangladesh registered 35 more deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours till Saturday, taking the total fatalities in the country to 846.

Of the deceased, 28 are men while seven are women.

Besides, confirmed coronavirus cases in the country have stood at 63,026 with 2,635 more reported during the period.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon

She said 521 more patients recovered from COVID-19 disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 13,325.

Prof Nasima said 12,486 samples were tested in 50 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 384,851 samples have so far been tested in the country.

In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 21.10 percent, she said.

The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 21.14 percent while the mortality rate is 1.34 percent in the country.

On Friday, Bangladesh recorded 30 deaths from coronavirus and 2,828 cases.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases saw a big jump in the past 24 hours till 10am on Saturday as around 1.5 lakh cases were reported around the world during the period.

In total, confirmed coronavirus cases have reached 6,850,236 globally, including 147,574 during the period, according to Worldometer.

Besides, the global death toll from coronavirus has reached 398,244.

Of the currently infected 3,100,763 patients, 3,047,147 are in mild condition while 53,616 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 3,351,229 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
