Bangladesh on Tuesday registered 525 more coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours to bring the national caseload to 536,107.
Besides, the death toll from the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, has reached 8,149 with 12 more casualties reported during the period.
Of the new deceased, 11 are men and one is woman. Among the total dead, 6,177 are men while 1,972 are women.
Currently, there are 47,230 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 512 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 480,728.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.67 per cent.
During the period, 14,452 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,678,649 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 3.63 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.57 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.
On Monday, the country registered 10 deaths and 443 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,475 samples with a positivity rate of 3.55 per cent.
Meanwhile, total infections from coronavirus across the world have surged to 103,931,497 as of Tuesday morning.
Besides, the world has so far recorded 2,247,715 deaths from the virus, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,948,562 patients, 25,846,133 are in mild condition while 107,405 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 75,735,220 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 26,911,375 and 454,213 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,767,206 and third highest fatalities of 154,522 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 225,143 and third highest cases of 9,230,016.
