Bangladesh on Friday reported 762 more coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours to bring the total infections to 526,485.
Besides, casualties from the virus, officially known as Sars-CoV-2 which is responsible for Covid-19, have jumped to 7,862 after it claimed the lives of 13 more people during the period.
Of the new deceased, nine are men and four are women. Among the total dead, 5,963 are men while 1,899 are women.
Currently, there are 47,500 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 718 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 471,123.
The recovery rate also continued to improve standing at 89.48 per cent.
During the period, 13,678 samples were tested in 199 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,431,792 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 5.57 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 15.34 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.49 per cent.
On Thursday, the country registered 16 deaths and 813 infections from coronavirus after testing 16,608 samples with a positivity rate of 4.90 per cent.
Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus has crossed 20 lakh reaching 2,002,407 around the world as of Friday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 93,533,472 people globally, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 24,718,442 patients, 24,606,649 are in mild condition while 111,793 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 66,812,623 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 23,848,410 and 397,994 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,528,508 and third highest fatalities of 151,954 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 207,160 and third highest cases of 8,326,115.
