Bangladesh logged 602 fresh infections from coronavirus during the previous 24 hours till Monday, raising the total cases to 532,401.
Besides, the national death tally from the deadly pathogen has climbed to 8,041 with the registration of 18 more fatalities during the period.
Of the new deceased, 15 are men and three are women. Among the total dead, 6,095 are men while 1,947 are women.
Currently, there are 47,381 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 566 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 476,979.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.59 per cent.
During the period, 14,829 samples were tested in 200 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,570,387 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 4.06 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.91 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.51 per cent.
On Sunday, the country recorded 20 deaths and 473 infections from coronavirus after testing 14,169 samples with a positivity rate of 3.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, total global deaths from coronavirus have reached 2,138,970 as of Monday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 99,771,661 people around the world, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,885,858 patients, 25,776,554 are in mild condition while 110,510 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 71,746,833 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 25,702,125 and 429,490 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,668,674 and third highest fatalities of 153,508 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 217,081 and third highest cases of 8,844,600.
