Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 538,062 with the registration of 292 new infections over the latest 24 hours till Sunday.
Besides, 15 more people died of the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, during the period to push the death toll in the country to 8,205.
Of the new deceased, 11 are men and four are women. Among the total dead, 6,217 are men while 1,988 are women.
Currently, there are 46,485 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 531 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 483,372.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.84 per cent.
During the period, 12,404 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,749,012 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 2.35 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.35 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.
On Saturday, the country registered eight deaths and 305 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,135 samples with a positivity rate of 2.51 per cent.
Meanwhile, coronavirus cases across the world have climbed to 106,343,965 as of Sunday morning.
Besides, 2,320,466 people have so far died from the virus infections globally, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,897,339 patients, 25,938,243 are in mild condition while 104,419 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 78,126,160 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 27,519,636 and 473,528 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,827,170 and third highest fatalities of 155,028 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 231,069 and third highest cases of 9,497,795.
