Bangladesh registered 835 new coronavirus cases in the previous 24 hours till Sunday to push the national caseload to 516,019.
Besides, casualties from the virus, officially known as Sars-CoV-2 which is responsible for Covid-19, have climbed to 7,626 with the deaths of 27 more people during the period.
Of the new deceased, 16 are men and 11 are women. Among the total dead, 5,797 or 76.02 percent are men while 1,829 or 23.98 percent are women.
Currently, there are 47,795 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 978 more people recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries to 460,598.
The recovery rate also continued to improve in the country standing at 89.26 percent.
During the period, 10,925 samples were tested in 180 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,260,327 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 7.64 percent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 15.83 percent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.48 percent.
On Saturday, the country recorded 23 deaths and 684 infections from coronavirus after testing 9,701 samples with a positivity rate of 7.05 percent.
Meanwhile, total recoveries from coronavirus around the have crossed 6 crore reaching 60,095,816 as of Sunday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 84,978,286 people around the world, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
The global death toll from the virus has jumped to 1,843,366.
Of the currently infected 23,039,104 patients, 22,933,074 are in mild condition while 106,030 are in serious or critical condition.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 20,904,701 and 358,682 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,324,631 and third highest fatalities of 149,471 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 195,742 and third highest cases of 7,716,405.
