Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 527,632 with the detection of 569 more infections over the previous 24 hours till Sunday.
Besides, 23 more casualties from the virus, officially known as Sars-CoV-2 which is responsible for Covid-19, were reported during the period to take the national death toll to 7,906.
Of the new deceased, 16 are men and seven are women. Among the total dead, 5,976 are men while 1,907 are women.
Currently, there are 47,289 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 681 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 472,437.
The recovery rate also continued to improve standing at 89.54 per cent.
During the period, 13,446 samples were tested in 199 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,457,453 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 4.23 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 15.26 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.50 per cent.
On Saturday, the country registered 21 deaths and 578 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,215 samples with a positivity rate of 4.73 per cent.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus continued to ravage the world which has recorded 94,951,950 cases as of Sunday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far killed 2,030,924 people around the world, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,147,051 patients, 25,035,437 are in mild condition while 111,614 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 67,773,975 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 24,306,043 and 405,261 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,558,710 and third highest fatalities of 152,311 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 209,350 and third highest cases of 8,456,705.
