A new CDC study of COVID-19 clusters in Georgia elementary schools found that initial infections in educators played an important role in the spread of COVID-19. The study highlights the importance of preventing infections among educators in particular. Strategies to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in schools include: avoiding non-essential in-person educator meetings and lunches, wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and following COVID-19 precautions outside of school. Although not required for reopening schools, vaccinating educators when the COVID-19 vaccine is available to them might help reduce the spread of the virus in schools.
