A new CDC report on real-world effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine finds that it was 63% effective at preventing infection for partially vaccinated residents of two skilled nursing facilities experiencing outbreaks. The findings show that even partial vaccination of a 2-dose series (defined as more than 14 days after the first dose through 7 days following the second dose) provided protection for this group at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
