ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Tuesday, 02 Jamadilawal 1443 / 07 December 2021, a total of twenty-seven (27) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 15,229.
- There are 18 additional new cases today to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, there are 2 new clusters detected today that involved 6 cases. All these new clusters are accommodation clusters which one of them namely Massutera Engineering staff house Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
- As currently shown on the screen, 6 clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 107 clusters.
(Screen: I-Con staff house Cluster, Mashor GC staff house Cluster, Nurisman Sdn Bhd Cluster, 9124 Cluster, 4163 Cluster and Soon Lee Heavy Machineries Cluster). - Meanwhile, 3 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. Ninety-five (95) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,932 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 197 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, one (01) case is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation as well as an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, there is one other case that is categorised in Category 4 that requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,990 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 645,285 tests.
5. Meanwhile, a total of 5,524 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection on 06 December 2021. This means that a total of 404,557 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 94.1% from the total population. Meanwhile, 357,604 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 83.2% from the total population. Meanwhile, the vaccination coverage among the population aged 60 years and above has exceeded 98% for both doses, namely for those who have received the first dose and second dose vaccine.
6. For ‘Operasi Peralihan’ that was carried out recently from 10 pm until 4 am, a total of 5 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 4 of them were violations of the directive to stay at home.
7. Let us all abide by all the guidelines and directives issued by the Government during this COVID-19 pandemic. InShaAllah with an integrated effort and trust in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, Brunei Darussalam and all its citizens and residents will continue to be protected and safeguarded.
