ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

28 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 03 December 2021

 

1.          Today, Friday, 28 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 03 December 2021, a total of ten (10) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 15,142.

  1. There is 1 additional new case to 1 of the existing active cluster who was previously a close contact with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, there are 2 new clusters detected today that involved 6 cases. One of the new clusters is TM Majeed Cluster which is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
  3. As currently shown on the screen, four clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 122 clusters.

     (Screen: 11689 Cluster, 11721 Cluster, 13459 Cluster and HTB Biltech Sdn Bhd Cluster).
     

  4. Meanwhile, 3 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

2.          Forty-one (41) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,647 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 395 cases.

 

3.          Among the cases being treated at this time, one case (01) is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation as well as an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, there is one other case that is categorised in Category 4 that requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.

 

4.          In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,627 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 631,475 tests.

 

5.          On 02 December 2021, a total of 1,002 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 404,070 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 94.0% from the total population. Meanwhile, 350,223 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 81.4% from the total population.

 

6.          For ‘Operasi Peralihan’ that was carried out recently from 10 pm until 4 am, a total of 9 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where all of them were violations of the directive to stay at home.

 

7.          Let us all pray that Brunei Darussalam and all its citizens and residents are always healthy and given protection and safety from all dangers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Amiin Amiin Ya Rabbal Alamin.
