ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Wednesday, 12 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 17 November 2021, a total of eighty-seven (87) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,378.
- There are 31 additional new cases to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, four new clusters have been detected that involved 30 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which one of the clusters namely Sweet Lemongrass staff house Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
- No cluster has been closed today. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 162 clusters.
- Meanwhile, 26 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. Seventy-three (73) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,786 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 494 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, five cases (05) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. Meanwhile, no other case is categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,038 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 570,625 tests.
5. On 16 November 2021, a total of 7,307 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This total includes 3,178 adolescents of aged 12-17 years. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 390,657 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 90.9% from the total population. Meanwhile, 308,965 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 71.9% from the total population.
6. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 13 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 10 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
7. Let us all abide by all the guidelines and directives issued by the Government during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together we work to protect the well-being of ourselves, our families and the general public.
