MEDIA STATEMENT
ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
11 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 16 November 2021
1. Today, Tuesday, 11 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 16 November 2021, a total of twenty-two (22) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,291.
- There is 1 additional new case to one of the existing active clusters who was previously a close contact with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, two new clusters have been detected that involved 16 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which one of the clusters namely Serikandi Jerudong staff house Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees.
- As currently shown on the screen, four clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 158 clusters.
(Screen: Derma Wangsa Cluster, Jodico Sdn Bhd Cluster, 3278 Cluster and 8598 Cluster).
- Meanwhile, 5 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. Sixty-eight (68) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,713 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 480 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, five cases (05) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. Meanwhile, there is no other case that is categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,981 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 566,587 tests.
5. On 15 November 2021, a total of 7,617 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This total includes 3,242 adolescents of aged 12-17 years. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 387,002 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 90.0% from the total population. Meanwhile, 305,313 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 71.0% from the total population.
6. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 2 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where both are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
7. Let us continue to remind each other and carry out our respective responsibilities as citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam to remain compliant to all the directives issued to ensure the upcoming transition phase will run smoothly.
