MEDIA STATEMENT
ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
09 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 14 November 2021

 
1.             Today, Sunday, 09 Rabiulakhir 1443 / 14 November 2021, a total of forty-three (43) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,215.

  1. There are 25 additional new cases to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, one new cluster have been detected that involved 4 cases. This new cluster is private housing cluster.
  3. As currently shown on the screen, three clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 164 clusters.

  4. Meanwhile, 14 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 
2.             One hundred and fifteen (115) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,562 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 555 cases.

 
3.             Among the cases being treated at this time, four cases (04) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. Meanwhile, three (3) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

 
4.             In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,826 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 560,141 tests.
 

5.             On 13 November 2021, a total of 7,179 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This total includes 2,307 adolescents of aged 12-17 years. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 381,106 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 88.6% from the total population. Meanwhile, 299,651 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 69.7% from the total population.

 
6.             For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 10 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 9 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.

 
7.             Insya Allah, as recently announced, the Transition Phase will commence on Friday, 19 November 2021 where all mosques in the country will be opened for fardhu prayers and Fardhu Friday prayers with capacity according to the suitability of each mosque concerned and distancing of at least one size of prayer mat between the congregants. In this regard, booking of slots for Fardhu Friday prayers via the BruHealth app will be opened on Wednesday, 17 November 2021 at 09:00 am. The procedure for booking of the Fardhu Friday prayer is similar to the procedure that was practiced last year. Only those who have green or yellow coloured BruHealth code and have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination are allowed to enter mosques, surau and musallas (balai ibadat).
 

8.             Meanwhile, relevant individuals or groups in ministries or offices, as well as those in the private sector and public who wish to conduct any form of events during the Transition Phase can obtain the guidelines on organising events and opening of premises in the Prime Minister’s Office website, as shown on the screen. Event organisers or the public do not need to apply for permission from the Ministry of Health to conduct such events.
