ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Tuesday, 26 Rabiulawal 1443 / 02 November 2021, a total of seventy-five (75) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,321.
- There are 26 additional new cases to 8 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, three new clusters have been detected that involved 20 cases. All the new clusters namely; Syazwanes Contractor Sdn Bhd Cluster, Meem Sdn Bhd Cluster and Ban 3 Construction Staffhouse Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees.
- One cluster has been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed cluster is 5182 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 172 clusters.
- In addition, there are 3 import cases have been recorded today, where two of the cases arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Kuala Lumpur on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 874 on 20/10/2021. Whereas, the other one case arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Manila on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 684 on 27/10/2021
- Meanwhile, 26 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
2. Two hundred and twenty-one (221) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 11,723 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,508 cases.
3. Among the cases being treated at this time, six (06) cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, fifteen (15) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
4. In the past 24 hours, a total of 5,047 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 512,574 tests.
5. On 01 November 2021, a total of 5,674 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 353,399 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 82.2% from the total population. Meanwhile, 260,338 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 60.5% from the total population.
6. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 3 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 2 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
7. Let us all pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala that Brunei Darussalam continues to be protected and blessed. May all patients especially COVID-19 patients will be given health and recover fully; and may all our efforts in curbing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic be eased and achieve success with His will.
