ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1.          Today, Monday, 25 Rabiulawal 1443 / 01 November 2021, by the will of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala and with a heavy heart, the Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that one COVID-19 confirmed case has returned to the grace and mercy of Allah.

 

2.          The case was an 86-year-old woman who suffered from several health problems and is not categorised as death due to COVID-19.

 

3.          In this opportunity, myself representing the Ministry of Health as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam, would like to express our deepest condolences to the case’s family and pray the case’s soul will receive blessings and is placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah..

4.          A total of one hundred and sixteen (116) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,246.

  1. There are 19 additional new cases to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
  2. Meanwhile, six new clusters have been detected that involved 61 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which two of the clusters namely; Tumasek Construction Project Cluster and Astal Engineering Staffhouse Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees.
  3. Six clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are Eden Garden Contractor Cluster; 4761 Cluster; 7176 Custer; 7290 Cluster; 7387 Cluster and 7591 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 170 clusters.
  4. Meanwhile, 36 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

5.          Two hundred and thirteen (213) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 11,502 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,654 cases.

 

6.          Among the cases being treated at this time, six cases (06) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, thirteen (13) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

 

7.          In the past 24 hours, a total of 2,573 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 507,527 tests.

 

8.          On 31 October 2021, a total of 627 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 353,041 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 82.1% from the total population. Meanwhile, 255,022 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 59.3% from the total population.

 

9.          The Ministry of Health would like to inform that the Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic services will be conducted as follows:

                     i.               Kampong Bolkiah Health Clinic, tomorrow Tuesday, 02 November 2021 from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm, especially for residents of Kg Bolkiah A & B (and the surrounding area at Mukim Sungai Kebun) and its surroundings.

 

                   ii.               Sungai Liang Health Centre for two days commencing Wednesday, 03 November 2021 until Thursday, 04 November 2021 from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm, especially for residents of Mukim Liang and its surroundings.

 

                  iii.               Pengkalan Batu Health Centre, on Friday, 05 November 2021 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon and Sunday, 07 November 2021 from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm, especially for residents of Mukim Pengkalan Batu and its surroundings. Meanwhile, the vaccination services to houses will be conducted on Thursday, 04 November 2021 according to the list provided by the Village Head.

 

The local community who wish to get the COVID-19 vaccination can come directly by walk-in by bringing along their identification card/passport as well as BruHIMS card (or number), if available. For those who are unable to attend on their own to the aforementioned health centres due to health problems or limited movement, they can register or be registered through the Village Head for vaccination arrangements at their respective homes.

 

10.      The Ministry of Health would like to share the updated list on the types of COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (ART) test kits that have been approved for use in Brunei Darussalam, which to date, 30 types of the ART test kits have been approved. Companies looking to acquire the ART test kits for sale to the public can refer to the list that is shown on the screen now. This list is also made available on the Ministry of Health’s website.

 

11.      Furthermore, to provide a clearer picture of the location of the positive cases detected in the county, the Ministry of Health would like to share some of the results of the research that has been conducted. As currently shown on the screen, between 24 October 2021 until 30 October 2021, there are three (3) mukims that have more than 80 positive cases. These mukims are namely; Mukim Sengkurong (205 cases), Mukim Liang (97 cases) and Mukim Kuala Belait (120 cases).

12.      For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 12 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 5 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.

 

13.      Let us pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala that we continue to be under His protection, blessed with health and wellness, as well as may all our efforts in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic be eased and given success with His will and grace. Aamiin…Aamiin Ya Rabbal Alamin.  Thank you.
