ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF COVID-19
IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. Today, Sunday, 24 Rabiulawal 1443 / 31 October 2021, by the will of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala and with a heavy heart, the Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that one COVID-19 confirmed case has returned to the grace and mercy of Allah.
2. The case was a 76-year-old woman who suffered from lung problems after infected with COVID-19 and was treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
3. In this opportunity, myself representing the Ministry of Health as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam, would like to express our deepest condolences to the case’s family and pray the case’s soul will receive blessings and is placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah..

4. A total of sixty-five (65) new cases of COVID-19 infections have been confirmed today bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,130.
- There are 35 additional new cases to 13 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
- Meanwhile, one new cluster has been detected which is an accommodation cluster that involved 4 cases.
- Seven clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are 4751 Cluster; 4785 Cluster; 5429 Custer; 6998 Cluster; Rimba Complex Cluster; 3723 Cluster and 6625 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 170 clusters.
- Meanwhile, 26 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
5. One hundred and ninety-eight (198) cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 11,289 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 1,752 cases.
6. Among the cases being treated at this time, six cases (06) are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, thirteen (13) other cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
7. In the past 24 hours, a total of 5,159 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 504,954 tests.
8. On 30 October 2021, a total of 2774 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. This means that, under the National Vaccination Programme, a total of 352,709 individuals have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 82.0% from the total population. Meanwhile, 254,727 individuals have completed the second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which is 59.2% from the total population. Whereas among the elderly population aged 60 years and above, a total of 42,231 individuals which is 97.5% have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and a total of 38,387 individuals which is 88.7% have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
9. For Operasi Pulih that was carried out recently from 8 PM until 4 AM, a total of 14 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, where 11 of them are violations of the out-of-house restriction.
10. In our efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, let us pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala that Brunei Darussalam remains protected from all hazards and may all citizens and residents in this country be safeguarded and given health and wellness.
