SITUATION OF THE COVID-19 INFECTION

IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1.    The Ministry of Health would like to inform the public on the current situation of the COVID-19 infection in Brunei Darussalam for Monday, 15 Zulhijjah 1442 / 26 July 2021, as of 12.00 noon.

2.    10 newly reported cases today i.e. Case 322 to Case 331 are from among the 15 close contacts for Cases 306, 307 and 308 that were reported on 20/07/21. All of them are the crew of a ship that left Singapore on 04/07/21 and arrived in Brunei Darussalam on 09/07/2021:

 

  1. Case 322 is a 48-year-old man and had cough and loss sense of smell since 23 July 2021;

     

  2. Case 323 is a 51-year-old man and had fever and cough since 22 July 2021;

     

  3. Case 324 is a 28-year-old man and had fever and runny nose since 24 July 2021;

     

  4. Case 325 is a 46-year-old man and does not have any signs of infection;

     

  5. Case 326 is a 37-year-old man and does not have any signs of infection;

     

  6. Case 327 is a 47-year-old man and had a sore throat since 23 July 2021;

     

  7. Case 328 is a 35-year-old man and had a sore throat since 21 July 2021;

     

  8. Case 329 is a 41-year-old man and does not have any signs of infection;

     

  9. Case 330 is a 36-year-old man and had runny nose since 24 July 2021; and

     

  10. Case 331 is a 45-year-old man and does not have any signs of infection.

    All the close contacts for Cases 306, 307 and 308 have undergone quarantine on  the ship since the first three cases were reported on 20 July 2021.

     

    Whereas:
     

  11. Case 332 is a 26-year-old man who arrived in Brunei Darussalam from London on 12 July 2021 and does not have any signs of infection; and

     

  12. Case 333 is a 32-year-old man who arrived in Brunei Darussalam from United Kingdom on 25 July 2021 and does not have any signs of infection.

     

3.    Meanwhile, one case being treated at the National Isolation Centre has been admitted to the Intensive Case Unit for monitoring while the rest are in a stable condition.
