COVID-19 vaccine: It’s our turn to roll up our sleeves and get vaccinated!
It’s hard to think back to the time before COVID-19 existed. COVID-19 has impacted our [school/childcare program], our daily activities, and all of our lives.
Despite the challenges, you’ve continued to support and take care of our community’s children. [You’ve adapted our usual in-person learning OR You’ve adapted to the virtual learning environment], you’ve provided meals to children who may not otherwise have had food, and you’ve provided much-needed emotional support and consistency to children during a difficult year. We have stood together, and we need to stand together again, as a community, to help stop this virus. Now we have a new, safe, and effective tool to help us do that—COVID-19 vaccines.
It takes everyone.
We all need to roll up our sleeves to beat COVID-19. We ask you to join us in protecting our community by getting vaccinated.

Getting vaccinated adds one more layer of protection for you, your family and loved ones, your students, your coworkers, and your community. Here are some things you should know about COVID-19 vaccination:
- All COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States are safe and effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19.
- Common side effects are pain, redness, and swelling in the arm where you got the shot. You may also have tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, fever, or nausea. These usually last 1 to 2 days.
- Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools we have available—wearing masks, staying at least 6 feet apart from others, avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated.
- In early March, all states were directed by the US Department of Health and Human Services to make staff of Pre-K through 12 schools and childcare workers eligible for COVID-19 vaccination across all vaccination providers. Pharmacy locations that are part of CDC’s Federal Retail Pharmacy Program are prioritizing teachers, school staff and childcare workers for COVID-19 vaccination during the month of March.
