50 new positive coronavirus cases have been reported in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, said Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz, bringing the total to 1,226.

50 new positive coronavirus cases were reported in Afghanistan over the last 24 hours—in Herat (21), Kunduz (15), Kabul (6), Logar (4), Panjshir (2), Takhar (1) and Jawzjan (10), Nimroz (5), Herat (3), Ghazni (2), Kapisa (4), Nangarhar (6), Kunar (3) and Parwan (1)–according to the Ministry of Public Health.

So far 40 people have died due to the coronavirus and 177 others have recovered, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of deaths from the COVID-19 disease globally is more than 183,454, and more than 2.6 million have been infected with the virus, according to Johns Hopkins University.
