A new CDC MMWR report describes the first U.S. cases, identified in two travelers who returned home to Minnesota, of a new variant of the virus that causes COVID-19 – the P.1 variant. The emergence of variants could lead to increased spread of COVID-19 in the U.S. Take steps to protect yourself and slow the spread. Reduce risk while traveling by:
• Testing at the proper time, both before and after travel.
• Wearing a well-fitting mask.
• Self-monitoring for symptoms.
• Having a period of self-quarantine after travel.
• Physical distancing.
• Using hand hygiene.
