Coronavirus has infected 509 more people in the Bangladesh over the last 24 hours till Thursday, pushing the total caseload to 533,953

Besides, the casualties from the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, have reached 8,087 after deaths of 15 more people during the period.

Of the new deceased, 12 are men and three are women. Among the total dead, 6,127 are men while 1,960 are women.

Currently, there are 47,320 active cases in the country.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

As per the press release, 611 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 478,546

The recovery rate also stands at 89.62 per cent.

During the period, 14,830 samples were tested in 200 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,615,338 samples have so far been tested in the country.

The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 3.43 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.77 per cent

Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.51 per cent.

On Wednesday, the country registered 17 deaths and 528 infections from coronavirus after testing 15,720 samples with a positivity rate of 3.36 per cent.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases around the world have reached 101,436,873 as of Thursday morning.

Besides, the death tally from the virus has jumped to 2,184,190 globally, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 25,925,395 patients, 25,818,202 are in mild condition while 110,161 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 73,327,288 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 26,166,201 and 439,517 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,702,031 and third highest fatalities of 153,885 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 220,237 and third highest cases of 9,000,485.
