Coronavirus infections in Bangladesh have climbed to 535,582 after the health authorities announced the detection of 443 new cases over the latest 24 hours till Monday.
Besides, 10 more people died of the virus in the country during the period to take the death toll to 8,137.
Of the new deceased, nine are men and one are women. Among the total dead, 6,166 are men while 1,971 are women.
Currently, there are 47,229 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 472 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 480,216.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.66 per cent.
During the period, 12,475 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,664,197 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate — an indicator of the prevalence of the disease — was recorded at 3.55 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.62 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.
On Sunday, the country registered 16 deaths and 369 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,225 samples with a positivity rate of 3.02 per cent.
Meanwhile, reported infections from coronavirus have reached 103,524,840 around the world as of Monday morning.
Besides, the world has so far registered 2,237,746 deaths from the virus, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 26,154,534 patients, 26,051,079 are in mild condition while 107,953 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 75,132,560 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 26,767,229 and 452,279 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,758,619 and third highest fatalities of 154,428 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 224,534 and third highest cases of 9,204,731.
