As of April 2, Guyana recorded 23 cases of the new Coronavirus, an increase from the 19 cases reported on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Karen Boyle in her daily update Friday revealed that 83 persons were tested of which 23 was positive, 59 negative and there is one inconclusive test result.

The number of deaths remains at four.

Dr Boyle said 34 persons are in institutional quarantine, 12 in institutional isolation and 149 persons are in home quarantine.

The number of calls to the hotline increased to 1,315.

Dr Boyle did not provide a regional breakdown of where the increase cases were registered.
